HTML Development Home Page

Please report bugs, etc. to Ross Koning koning@ecsu.ctstateu.edu.

This page is where I have chosen to put some help for those of you trying to write HTML pages for the WWW.

Please note that some features I have intended to show you on these pages may not render properly or at all on your browser. I have pitched my designs at the latest version of Netscape which has features found on no other browser. Before reporting a "bug" it would be good to be sure you are using the latest version of Netscape.

If you attended my ECSU workshop on this topic and want to see the page we started with, click here.

If you are a real beginner and need to know the basics of how to set up a server and write your first home page, then check out my page on Getting Started.

If you are looking for how to make your pages more interesting, I have written a few pages on HTML syntax:

There are simple ways to Show Slides and Use Buttons on your pages.

Text Rendering shows you how to change the size of the typeface, alignment, and headings.

Horizontal Rules demonstrates how to change the width, size, and position of horizontal rules.

Positioning Images takes you through the basics of getting your graphics images placed properly with respect to text, controlling the flow of text around the left and right of images, and controlling borders and white-space around the images.

Making Tables assumes you are now familiar with basic HTML tags and, so, outlines the various attributes that are under control for making a table. One wild example table is used to demonstrate several of the features. I hope you won't actually produce such a clown pants table on your WWW pages!

Using Color shows you how to control color in your WWW page for Netscape browsers.

There is more information about using Color The Easy Way!

I have some Page Backgrounds you can download for use behind your own pages as well as some instructions for downloading other people's background graphics you may have found while "surfing" the net.

Getting Special Display Characters up on your screen is important for European languages and for science too.

Have Fun!
