Define Biology:

The Study of Life

Properties of life:

Cell Structure Metabolism-Homeostasis Growth, Movement
Reproduction (or Extinction!) Response to Stimuli (Behavior) Species Adaptation (Evolution)

Provide both name and function labels for the unit of life:

Middle Lamella - pectin glues cells together Cell Wall - prevents bursting, allows turgor Cell Membrane - barrier but facilitates import and export Nucleus - transcription of RNA, replication of DNA Cytosol - fermentation, glycolysis, etc. Ribosome - translation=protein synthesis Endoplasmic Reticulum - intracellular transport Vesicle - export package Golgi - sorting, packaging Mitochondrion - respiration Chloroplast - photosynthesis
